Why Visit

Why You'll Love Marrakech

Marrakech hits you immediately. The colours, the sounds, the smell of cumin and rose water drifting through the medina — it's one of the most sensory cities on earth and one of the most rewarding to explore slowly. Step off the plane and within an hour you feel like you've travelled somewhere genuinely different.

What makes Marrakech special is the contrast. Ancient riads hidden behind plain walls open into breathtaking courtyards. Chaotic souk lanes give way to serene garden terraces. The city rewards curiosity — every alley leads somewhere worth finding.

🏛️ Jemaa el-Fna

The great square at the heart of the medina — snake charmers, storytellers and food stalls that come alive after dark. There's nowhere else quite like it.

🛍️ The Souks

Leather, lanterns, spices, ceramics — the medina souks are a labyrinth worth getting lost in. Set aside a full morning and wander without a map.

🌿 Majorelle Garden

Yves Saint Laurent's famous cobalt blue garden — a genuinely tranquil escape from the medina bustle. One of the most photographed spots in Morocco.

Choose Your Marrakech

Marrakech works beautifully as a short break or a longer stay. Here's how different travellers tend to experience it.

The Culture Seeker

Deep in the Medina

The Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa, the tanneries of the leather souk — Marrakech has centuries of history packed into its ancient walls.

The Luxury Traveller

Riad Life

Marrakech's riads are among the most beautiful boutique stays in the world — private plunge pools, rooftop terraces and breakfast served in a tiled courtyard.

The Day Tripper

Beyond the City

The Atlas Mountains are an hour away. Camel treks into the Agafay Desert, Berber villages, waterfalls at Ouzoud — Marrakech is the perfect base.

Timing

The Best Time to Visit Marrakech

Marrakech has a desert climate — winters are mild, summers are extremely hot. Getting the timing right makes a big difference to your experience.

Season When What to Expect
Spring March – May The best time to visit. Warm and sunny without the intense summer heat. Roses bloom in the valleys and the light is beautiful for photography.
Summer June – August Very hot — regularly above 38°C. The medina can feel intense. Fine if you plan around the heat with early mornings and riad afternoons.
Autumn September – November Temperatures drop to a very comfortable level. Quieter than spring with excellent value at most riads. A genuinely great time to visit.
Winter December – February Mild and pleasant by day — cool at night. The souks are quieter and prices are at their lowest. Perfect for a winter sun city break from the UK.

"Marrakech is one of those cities that gets under your skin — chaotic and beautiful in equal measure, and impossible to forget once you've been."
